Zouk means the beginning of a Rhythm or the beginning of something new. It is a style of rhythmic music originating from the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. It has its roots in Cadence music from Dominica popularizes by Grammacks and Exile. One Zouk means “Party” in the local Creole of French with English and African influences, all three of which contribute to the sound.
Music therefore is a very essential component of the Café Zouk dining experience. The music is carefully selected and is adjusted according to the customer mix in the restaurant at any particular time. The ambiance which is now so unique to Café Zouk was basically designed to begin a new trend in food and entertainment, a new theme, hitherto non existent in the country.
